Sacred Morning Challenge | Day 4: Sacred Skincare with Essential Oils

Incorporating Sacred Skincare into your morning routine is a way to give yourself some extra love, right at the start of the day. Since over-cleansing can be way too harsh and damaging, I wanted to offer up a varied, balanced regime that is 100% natural, and will leave your skin glowing!

Remember, a great morning skincare routine is a companion to a healthy evening skincare routine (I’ll share my evening skincare routine at the end of this post).

You Will Need

  • Organic Extra Virgin, Cold Pressed, Non GMO Coconut Oil
  • Popsicle Stick for application
  • Organic, Natural Bar Soap
  • Facial Cleansing Brush
  • Therapeutic Grade Tea Tree Oil and/or Lavender Oil (or Geranium Oil)
  • Organic, Non GMO Rosehip Seed Oil
  • Distilled Water
  • Organic Witch Hazel
  • Natural Mud / Clay Masque
  • Glass Spray Bottle
  • Small Quartz or Rose Quartz Crystals (optional)

_______

Morning Skincare Routine

Daily | Tone + Moisturize + Massage

  1. Using the recipes below, start by washing your hands, then wiping your face with warm water on a microfiber cloth.
  2. Apply your toner either by spritzing or using a cotton ball.
  3. Using 4-5 drops of Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, massage onto face with fingertips. Massage firmly, pinching along the jawline, over the cheeks, and eyebrows. Pinching the skin helps increase circulation, thus firms and lifts over time.

2 Mornings per Week | Triple Cleanse Method + Soft Exfoliation + Tone + Moisturize

  1. With the triple cleanse method, you will begin by washing your hands. Dip out coconut oil with a popsicle stick and massage onto the face with fingers.
  2. Without rinsing the coconut oil, moisten your organic bar soap and facial brush, then apply the brush to the soap. After you’ve gathered a good amount of soap onto the brush, begin *gently* massaging the brush onto the face over the coconut oil for 30-60 seconds. Rinse with warm water.
  3. This time using your hands, massage your organic soap gently onto the face. Rinse with cool water to help close the pores.
  4. Pat the face dry, and apply your homemade toner, either as a spritz or with a cotton ball.
  5. Using 4-5 drops of Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, massage onto face with fingertips. Massage firmly, pinching along the jawline, over the cheeks, and over the eyebrows as in the daily routine (above).

DIY TONER RECIPE (for all skin types)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup distilled water
  • 1/4 cup organic witch hazel
  • 3/4 teaspoon of Aloe Vera gel (optional, for additional soothing)
  • 5 drops of therapeutic grade Tea Tree Oil
  • 5 drops of therapeutic grade Lavender Oil or Geranium Oil
  • 10-15 drops of Rosehip Seed, Argan, or Jojoba oil (I prefer Rosehip Seed Oil)
  • Small Quartz or Rose Quartz Crystals (optional)

To blend:

  1. This step is completely optional. Start by infusing your water with crystals for 24 hours before blending up the remaining ingredients. Quartz has anti-aging properties and can reduce redness. Alternatively you can try using amethyst to promote a balanced sense of wellbeing, or a mixture of each of these.
  2. Add the distilled water and witch hazel to a measuring cup or bowl
  3. Add in the essential oils and rosehip seed oil
  4. Pour into glass spray bottle
  5. Shake well before each use

Benefits of Each Ingredient

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is hands down the absolute best makeup remover! It will even remove mascara very well. It is a deep cleanser, and softens the skin making it perfect to use before exfoliation. It is antibacterial, antifungal, reduces wrinkles, and helps balance your skin’s natural oil production. We don’t want to overuse, however, as it can have the opposite effect and dry out the skin. I tend to use it only in the evenings, and will sometimes skip it if I didn’t wear makeup that day.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil prevents and helps clear up blemishes because it is antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral.

Lavender Oil: Lavender oil is great for use in skincare because it won’t clog the pores, is incredibly soothing to the skin, and assists with toning and refining your pores.

Geranium Oil: Another excellent flower essence to use in skincare is geranium essential oil. Geranium oil promotes healthy, glowing skin, and aromatically inspires balance and stability. This oil nourishes the skin cells, and can lighten scars and skin discoloration.

Rosehip Seed Oil: Rosehip Seed Oil not only nourishes and softens the skin, but it can also brighten discolorations and even out skintone.

Organic Witch Hazel: Witch Hazel is such a gentle, uplifting toner for the skin. In general it reduces puffiness and redness, and refines the skin and pores.
