A Healthy Warm Winter Treat: Turmeric Milk


I decided to give this recipe a try after having seen it posted on Cooking Without Limits (click here to view original recipe).

This is an Ayurvedic blend that helps with restless sleeping, soothes your sore throat, helps with digestive issues, relieves menstrual cramping and headaches, and even offers relief for arthritis and irritable bowel syndrome. Turmeric can be mood-enhancing, and is known for relieving depression symptoms.  While some people can be allergic to turmeric (typically in the form of a rash), this usually only occurs with high dosages.

I tweaked the recipe a bit for enhanced flavor and after a couple of batches, came up with this! So tasty.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, or unsweetened vanilla soymilk
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp raw organic honey or raw agave nectar
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

 

How to Prepare: 

Heat the milk with the spices until it starts to boil and remove immediately. Stir in honey or agave nectar to sweeten, and enjoy!
