Make Wall Art With Backyard Findings

Branches have a texture and an elegance that brings warmth to any room. Today I was cleaning up the yard and decided to save a few of my favorite twigs to create a wall piece! Little gifts from nature free, and beautiful.

It feels good to know that these fell naturally from our huge Maple and now will decorate our walls with the reminder of our first fall working in the yard here 🙂

Working With Twigs

  • When you’re picking up fallen twigs, look for ones with flexibility.
  • Soak them in hot water for at least one hour, to cleanse them and give them added flexibility.
  • Bind together with hemp cord, twine, or other natural elements. Throw in some dried flowers or herbs.
  • For something extra special, create a natural fragrance spray for your wall art to give the room an inviting scent. Blend 1/8 c of distilled or filtered water with 10 drops of your favorite essential oil and funnel into to a small spray bottle. Shake for 5-10 seconds, and spray the branches with your fresh fragrance. Stronger scents will last longer; Clove, Cinnamon, Juniper Berry, and White Fir are great for this season.

I’ll share the results of my project in a future blog post. Have a blessed day!
